The site has been featured in many national magazines, online, in newspapers and is recommended by scores of heart clinics, doctors and cardio nutritionists. Donald Gazzaniga produced the first No-Salt cookbook aimed at helping heart patients and others with a need to cut salt out and lower sodium. He and Pete Eiden, the founder of Healthy Heart Market, worked together for years to help those in need and in fact Megaheart and the cookbooks recommend Healthy Heart Market for many of the ingredients in their recipes. Jon's Place A great place for information about congestive heart failure. Includes a forum for heart patients, a separate forum for the loved ones of heart patients, and over 200 pages of information about drugs, diet, and many other subjects.
Low Sodium Cooking.com Our friend, Dick, was put on a low sodium diet. For fun he creates recipes and shares them with the rest of us, all for free. He is a true mad scientist in the kitchen, and I mean that in a good way. Check out his site and sign up for his free newsletter.
NDIF.ORG This is the site of the Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus Foundation. If you have a young child on a low sodium diet there is much information here for you.
Sharing Life The Laura Neumann Foundation Sharing life is a foundation started by the sister of a liver/kidney transplant patient in her memory. It is a great cause, and one that I am involved in. We have a yearly walk/run to raise money. The money is divided three ways including a fund for liver research, a fund to assist families waiting for transplant, and funds to educate the public about organ donation. Take a look at the web site and if able, help this cause. If you live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area maybe you could attend the event. If not you can send us a donation, or how about donating a door prize for the event. Anything can help. If you have questions you can contact me or there is information at the web site.
Medicalert If you have heart problems, you should have a medical alert bracelet or necklace. I use this place. For a low cost, you join their network, and your emergency caregivers can call toll free and receive your medical information. This could easily save your life. It is hard to tell someone what is wrong with your when your not awake. This is a non profit foundation.
Peripartum Cardiomyopathy Support Group This site is maintained by an R.N. who suffers from PPCM. If you are a women with this type of heart problem this site is for you. It has tons of information that is of interest to women with any kind of Cardiomyopathy or congestive heart failure.
Heartpoint Heart point is a great site for general information about heart issues. Check this place out for answers to your questions about many heart topics.
Heartfailure.org Here is another great source for information about heart failure. This site, sponsored in part by the Sharp Foundation for Cardiovascular Research, and the San Diego Cardiac Center tells you the story of heart failure in plain English, or Spanish if you choose that option. The site is easy to read, use, and has quite a bit of good information, including do I have heart failure? If you have CHF, or may someday due to other problems, you must check out this site.
