16 Ounce bag of powered mix.

I purchased this at a school cafeteria sale thinking I could dip tortilla chips or something in it. The smaller batch says mix 1c mix with 2 c water. Followed instructions —> It was very bland, more like white sauce; and a little runny. I tried cooking it to thicken but that didn’t help much.
If I make it again I would use 1 c mix + 1/2c water, (not 2) and add 1T lemon juice to give it some good flavor.
I tried to improve my batch with a carton of sour cream but ended dumping the whole thing. My teen and young adult kids won’t touch this, which leaves me to try to disguise it in soup…or something.
I can either toss these 2 bags and find something else, or try to use it knowing it could be on my shelf a couple of yrs and then I’d toss it bc I couldn’t find a way to use it up.
I’m irritated that I purchased 2 bags of this !
I’m not on a low sodium diet. I do a lot of scratch cooking but was looking for a quick cheese sauce— and even I don’t think I could do much to improve this.
Even though this cheese sauce base is not sodium free, it is relatively low in sodium, about 35 mg of sodium per tablespoon. So it's quite easy to include it in some sauces or sprinkle on top of casseroles without overloading on sodium. It really adds a subtle but good cheddar flavor.
Great! Makes good Mac and cheese. Makes good dip also
I love this cheese sauce. It has a great flavor and adds a nice creaminess to breakfast bowls and nachos. Would like to see instructions for smaller servings rather than just the entire package.
You have to be sodium free for months for this to taste like food.
