Chicago Bistro French Onion Soup mix is no salt added and makes enough to serve 4-5 people! Rich and robust with/without the topping of french bread and cheese.
You Will Also Need:
- 3 Tablespoons Butter
- 6 Cups Beef Broth (Try Herb Ox Sodium Free Beef Bouillon)
- 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire (Try Robbie's Worcestershire)
- 1 Large, Sweet Onion
- 1/2 Cup Apple Cider/Juice
- 1 tsp Sugar (optional)
Peel onion and cut into quarters, then cross cut quarters to form narrow semi-circle slices. In a 4 quart pot melt butter and saute onion 10 minutes, or to caramelize onion, add 1 tsp sugar and continue to cook to a golden brown an extra 10 minutes. Add contents of Chicago Bistro French Onion Soup Mix and stir 30 seconds. Add broth, apple cider/juice, and Worcestershire. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook on low 40 minutes. Serve as is or top each bowl with croutons and cheese.

B
Bunny Hunt It was good, easy to prepare and alter if needed
C
Candice Metallic The instructions were simple. I added more onion and it turned out superb.
J
Jerri Brandes It's good but I didn't care for the Lentils in it. Wish it was just onions.
J
Jerri Brandes I made a roast, potatoes and carrots with this soup mix. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but it was really good. There is a lot of onions and other spices. I even made gravy with the broth! Cooked in my crock pot.
